Teen Yoga at Flow

  • Flow Tunbridge Wells 29 Woodbury Park Road Tunbridge Wells, England, TN4 9NG United Kingdom (map)

This Yoga course is specifically designed for the needs of Teenagers, teaching them yoga postures and sequences, breathing practices and meditation/relaxation. Suitable for 11 - 16 year olds.

It can be as part of your Duke of Edinburgh 'Skill' section or stand alone as an extracurricular practice after school to wind down after a busy day.

Are you new to Secondary school? Then these classes might be a lovely start to your Year 7 journey. Why not ask a new friend from class along?

The classes are designed to give young people some time to connect with themselves, give them space to be present and calm and encourage balance in their lives

It is so important for young people to look after themselves physically and emotionally and have the tools to do that, giving them increased confidence and independence.

I make the classes fun, incorporating games into a class as often teenagers spend a lot of time having to concentrate at school and this allows them to be playful and unwind but within a structured and safe setting.

My classes are about giving teenagers time to rest their bodies and minds, and time to connect with others in a non-competitive setting where you can be yourself in a supportive space.

With the added pressures of Social Media, these classes are a chance to step away from our technical world and connect back to just being comfortable with yourself away from the distractions of a screen.

The teenage brain is developing rapidly, and proven scientific research suggests that Yoga for young people is a really powerful tool in supporting them at this critical time in their lives.

Here is a list of what Yoga can do and it's pretty amazing!

• Increased vitality and energy.

• Confidence and raising self-esteem, boosting mood and well-being.

• Reducing stress and anxiety by lowering cortisol levels (stress hormone) and promoting calm.

• Skills to help them manage exam stress.

• Being in the present moment.

• Learning to be happy and healthy in their bodies.

• Suppleness, strength, coordination and balance in their growing bodies.

• Time to be still and rest the body and mind.

• Yoga can be a great addition to other sporting interests.

• Learning mindful meditation and visualisation techniques.

• Learning to make the right choices for themselves.

• To feel grounded and balanced.

• Breathing techniques to help with calm, focus and relaxation.

A lifelong skill and something that will stay with them throughout their lives, when you begin a regular practice, it starts to filter gradually into daily life
