WINTERING DAY RETREAT
Sunday 11th January 2026
Flow Tunbridge Wells
Let this be your invitation to withdraw from the world, if only for a day.
To delve into the powerful and transformative act of wintering, slowing down in order to see more.
Dear You,
Let this be your invitation to withdraw from the world, if only for a day. To delve into the powerful and transformative act of wintering, slowing down in order to see more.
The concept of wintering was brought to the world by Katherine May in her 2020 book Wintering. Here she shows how we can take inspiration from nature and drop into a cycle of rest, recharge and reflection during the winter months.
Through wintering, we can honour the seasons and embrace the wisdom and teaching of the dark. As we embrace this acceptance, a new opportunity arises to slowly explore the resources required to begin the necessary steps of preparing for what is to come.
I so hope you’ll join us.
With love
Lucy xxx
Our Venue
Flow Tunbridge Wells
A second home to so many of our students, Flow has offered a safe haven and contemplative sanctuary to clients since 2015.
For this day, our home will become exclusively yours. You’re invited to enjoy the studio, garden, and kitchen at your leisure.
With a maximum of 10 guests, you’ll be free to roam with plenty of space to move, chill and reflect.
Our schedule for the day
Sunday 11th January, 9 am - 5 pm
Our day will be spent together, moving between the Flow studio, the garden, and the kitchen. We will share somatic movement practices in the studio, easing into our bodies and respecting whatever turns up for us on the day.
Breath work and meditation will be included in our reflection, contemplation and deep rest.
Brunch will be provided in the bright and sunny Flow kitchen and lovingly prepared with your nourishment and gut health in mind.
Tools gleaned from ancient yogic wisdom to modern psychotherapy practices will be shared and taught across the day, with a special focus on Internal Family Systems and the transformative power IFS offers.
Poetry, sound, science, and awareness will be peppered throughout the day, with a healthy dose of fun and laughter along the way.

WHAT IS IFS?
IFS, Internal Family Systems, is a transformative tool that conceives of every human being as a system of protective and wounded inner parts led by a core Self. We believe the mind is naturally multiple, and that is a good thing. Just like members of a family, inner parts are forced from their valuable states into extreme roles within us. Self is in everyone. It can’t be damaged. It knows how to heal.
IFS is frequently used as an evidence-based psychotherapy, helping people heal by accessing and healing their protective and wounded inner parts. IFS creates inner and outer connectedness by helping people first access their Self and, from that core, come to understand and heal their parts.
But IFS is much more than a non-pathologizing evidence-based psychotherapy to be used in a clinical setting. It is also a way of understanding personal and intimate relationships and stepping into life with the 8 Cs: confidence, calm, compassion, courage, creativity, clarity, curiosity, and connectedness.
The mission of IFS Institute is to bring more Self-leadership to the world.
Good to know:
Lucy is a fully trained IFS therapist, having completed both her Level 1 and 2 training with IFS UK. The explorative IFS group work included in this retreat will focus on finding and building our innate Self-energy.
Lucy is available for individual IFS therapy & counselling by appointment.

Take Away:
When we gather together in a reflective community, we begin to notice things that might otherwise have remained mysterious or invisible. We awaken our innermost curiosity and enliven our senses to allow more calibration between our internal and external existence. When we deepen into our inner landscape, we find ourselves exploring a deep well of stillness and as we dive into the stillness, we are exposed to the ever-expanding vastness of stillness that connects us to all things in a way that may not have been experienced ever before.
Try it, it just may be the best thing you’ve ever done for yourself.
Good to know:
You need no experience in any practices to attend this day retreat. Only a willingness to be surprised and an acceptance that being can be far more productive and powerful than simply doing.
