Wintering Day Retreat

  • Flow Tunbridge Wells 29 Woodbury Park Road Tunbridge Wells United Kingdom (map)

Let this be your invitation to withdraw from the world, if only for a day.

To delve into the powerful and transformative act of wintering, slowing down in order to see more.

The concept of wintering was brought to the world by Katherine May in her 2020 book Wintering. Here she shows how we can take inspiration from nature and drop into a cycle of rest, recharge and reflection during the winter months.

Through wintering, we can honour the seasons and embrace the wisdom and teaching of the dark. As we embrace this acceptance, a new opportunity arises to slowly explore the resources required to begin the necessary steps of preparing for what is to come.

This retreat day is designed in two parts to maximise the benefit and stir your creativity.

First will be dedicated to deep rest and cleansing of the indulgences from the December festivities. This will include instruction and practice of using a neti pot to clear our nasal passages from the debris of inevitable colds and blocked sinuses.

The second part will offer an invitation to the new, a stirring of a seed of thought that with care and attention can begin to grow into a fine plant come the Spring.  We will each create our own Sankalpa, or seed, ready to sow as Imbolc arrives and welcomes back the Light.

Let yourself mirror nature during this beautiful day retreat, where winter is a time of restoration, healing and preparation for the new year ahead.
